Sunday's Loveable Furballs - 7

We were dog walking machines this weekend. Namath was able to get today off, so we went twice this weekend instead of our usual Saturday. Since it is a holiday weekend, a lot of people go on mini trips, so there weren't as many people as usual.   We tried to walk as many as we could the few hours we could go. It has been great weather wise and we were able to meet a lot of new dogs.  :)

This week's Love Furballs is dedicated to a couple of the long term residents.

She's a nice girl. Her appearance makes me laugh. :)  She can sit and walk nicely on a leash. Mekha doesn't care for other dogs, so she should be an only child.

Here is the another Faith. She's been here for a while and hates it. :( Faith hates having to go back into her kennel. She can be a little bit aloof when you first meet her, but super loving once she warms up to you. She can walk nicely on a leash and can sit and likes to play. Isn't she pretty?

Want a dog you can take on a boat or the beach? Sophia is your gal. She LOVES the water! Sophia is a newer dog, so I don't know too much about her...BUT she's sweet, loves to play, be loved on and the water. Put out a kiddie pool and she'll jump right in.

Society6

A couple of my friends have started posting some of the works on Society6...So, why not give it a whirl?

It seems pretty cool and it gives me a place to put some of my photos and drawings that will actually ship it out for me. Sweet.

Love to OKC

We made donations to the Central Oklahoma Humane Society and Central Oklahoma Chapter of the Red Cross. I hope you find a way to show love an support to those in need.  Every little bit helps make a difference in a life, big or small.

Sunday's Loveable Furballs - 6

Any animal over six months is free!

There were a lot of new faces this weekend. I can only hope they find homes soon.  The Jacksonville Humane Society is going to be a participant in the Rachael Ray 100k Challenge.  I'm hoping we can be top competitive shelter. :)

A sweet hound dog and pretty too! Tippy walks nicely on a leash. She loves to sniff everything. :)

Gus:
Handsome and smart! Gus can fetch, sit, shake and stay. He likes to play even if he's a little "older." Age is a state of mind, right?

This sweetheart is one of my new favorites. She's sweet and laid back.  I think she might have been used to pop out babies, but not anymore! Now she can focus on being a great dog. :)  I love her eyes and under bite.

Great News:

Faith is recovering nicely.  She's now eligible for adoption again.

Feeling Lucky?

So, yeah...Everyone is trying their luck around here. :) I rarely participate in the lotto. I have the wonderful Irish unlucky luck when it comes to chance. But, what the hell.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't mind enough money for a nice down payment on a house and a trip up to PA to visit my Gram.  I don't think that's asking for too much. Are you listening universe? :)

Seriously, what would you do with a bajillion bucks? Go insane, probably.

Anyone else feeling lucky?

I know Kodee is! I love my pound puppy. We've had her two months today. A great day to buy a lotto ticket.

Sunday's Loveable Furballs - 5

It was hot this Mother's Day weekend.  There were quite a few people out looking at the animals.  They were free if they were over six months.  :) I was hoping a bunch would get adopted...BUT not so much, although a few found some homes! I'm guessing, Mother's Day isn't a typical, "Let's go get an animal" kind of weekend. The jewelers were busy, I'm sure.

This sweet girl has been here is January. :(  (And yes, there are quite a few who have been here longer).  She's kind of shy when you first meet her, but then she becomes an absolute sweetie pie.  Gabanna gets stressed out with other doggies, so she'd do best as any only child.  She's a lovely dog.

These two buddies are housed together.  Both of them are laid back kind of guys. Bolton seems to be the leader of the two. :)  He'll wander off farther and check on Benny and nudge him to come along.  Benny is the real lover of the two.  :)  He will stop in mid-walk if you start to pet him and fall into your lap. Who doesn't love a large lap dog? Don't worry, Bolton gives lovin' too! :)
I don't think they have to be adopted together, but if you are willing able, it would be awesome to see them go to a home together!

Sad News:

Lucan was returned. :(

Sickly Kodee

When we brought Kodee home, she was just starting heart worm treatment. On Tuesday, we brought her in for the last round.  Kodee has been miserable for the past few days.

We have been babying her for most of the week.  I think her runny nose could fill a bucket.  Little by little she is getting back to her normal silly self.

But to top off the lameness of the week...I burnt the last pizza I had that my parents brought me back from Pennsylvania.  BOO!

My glorious pizza turned pitch black.  I turned on Broil to melt the cheese better, my first time using the setting...And I didn't realize it would melt the cheese so quickly. D'oh.  Luckily, I'll get more when we go up and visit my Gram this summer.  (We seriously fill up about three coolers full of this). It's one of the staples of our trips.  We always have to have pizza and coney dogs when we go to New Castle.  I love food traditions. When we visit my husband's grandmothers in Georgia, we drive about 30 minutes to get Jimmy's Hotdogs. EVERY...SINGLE...TIME.  I should have known we were meant to be together when we both had family hotdog spots.

On a good note.  Kodee is feeling better today.  See!

Sunday's Loveable Furballs - 4

Even though it was raining all weekend, we managed to get quite a few pups walked before it started to pour. There are a lot of new wiggly butts we are getting to know. :)

*Click on their names to see 'em on the Humane Society's Page*

He's a young pup (about ten months old).  James is sweet, silly and loves to play.  He's learning to walk better on a leash and could use some training.  James is willing to do anything for a treat!

Pretty Girl is a young mommy who is now ready to go home with someone.  She's super sweet and willing to give lots of kisses.

Here's another sweet old man.  Charlie is super laid back and loves tummy rubs!  If you want a chill companion, he'd be perfect for you.

Great News:

One of my faves, Jeannie!

Bad News:

Sweet girl Faith was returned with a dislocated hip. :(  She is recovering in the hospital.  Namath and I went to visit and give her some love.  She's sooo loving.  Tail wagging even though she's hurting.  People make me so mad. I hope someone is willing to give her a wonderful spoiled life once she's out of recovery.

Hitting The Books

It's official. I signed up for a class at FSCJ. I'm going back to school.

I graduated from UNF back in 2006...Seems so long ago.  But I'm heading back again to get an other degree.  I'm going to attempt accounting.  Holy moly.  It's a long way off from my Art degree. :)

Hello Gidget

I christened my bike Gidget.  I thought the name was fitting for a beach cruiser. :)

Here are better pictures of her than I previously posted.

Gidget before:

And closeups of her new paint job.

I love the way she turned out.  So far, I've only gone for a ride once.  The weather has not been cooperating lately. All I need is a basket for the front and I can be like the hip kids. haha :)

Sunday's Lovable Furballs - 3

It's a little late posting, but this weekend wore me out. :)

The Humane Society had a big event this weekend. All of the animals were $25.   I went out both Saturday and Sunday to walk dogs.
A lot of fur babies were adopted, but here are some that weren't.

*Click on their names to see 'em on the Humane Society's Page*

She's so sweet and quick to give kisses.  She's a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. Isn't Ginger a pretty pup?

She's a sweetie and walks well on the leash.  I just met her on Saturday and enjoyed my walk with her.

She's a young mama who had a litter not too long ago.  She's sweet and loves to gives kisses and is real curious about what goes on around her.  Janice also loves to play and will go to town on a toy. :)

AND for some awesomeness...Here are the adopted bunch! I hope they found good home and won't be returned. (Yes, people do that)  I will find out this weekend.  Here's to happy thoughts.

Jeffrey
I was sooo happy to see him with a family, and lucky enough to get some goodbye lovin'.
