Hitting The Books

It's official. I signed up for a class at FSCJ. I'm going back to school.  

I graduated from UNF back in 2006...Seems so long ago.  But I'm heading back again to get an other degree.  I'm going to attempt accounting.  Holy moly.  It's a long way off from my Art degree. :)  

 

A Sweet Ride

A buddy from work gave me this bike.

It's in need of lovin'.  There is quite a bit of rust, but it's nothing some elbow grease and sanding won't fix.  My dad and I are going to revamp her in the next few weeks...Stay tuned for my adventure in bike painting.  Hopefully, it won't turn into a disaster.  *Fingers SUPERDUPER Crossed*

And I got my super awesome Humane Society shirt.  

We both walked four dogs each and one together. Romantical, huh?  Too bad I can't have one of my own yet. =(

Puppy Love

I'm rather excited.  Namath and I are going to start walking dogs at the Humane Society. =)
It was, unbeknownst to him, on my to-do list for this year.  Since I have weekends off, I thought it would be fun to volunteer with animals.
I donate stuff to their thrift store when I do our spring/fall cleaning and try to donate money or useful items.  Anyway, I thought about the possibility of helping out with my time.
We've gone up there to visit a few times simply to tell the doggies they will eventually find a home.  We'd adopt one or two ourselves, but our landlord won't let us - which is a whole other story.
The last time we went up there we saw people with volunteer shirts playing with the dogs outside.  Namath asked if we'd be able to do it, and they say yes, they are in need of dog walkers.
So, on our way back to the car, Namath suggested if he could get the mornings off, would I like to walk dogs.  I think I must have swooned a little.  It was the sweetest idea EVER.  All the better because he asked.  

The great thing about the Humane Society is they are a no kill shelter, so I won't feel terrible about leaving the dogs behind.  Plus, knowing a dog has been adopted means there is room for an other dog to find a home. <3

What about the cats?  I'm allergic, so someone else will have to play with them in Kittyburg. =)

Running From Zombies

I ran in the Zombie Buffet 5k over the weekend, and it was fun.  I ended up becoming a zombie when I got to the infected zone, but I knew I wouldn't stand a chance.  I'm not lightening speed fast, and that's what I needed to be, but it was a lot of fun.  (I carried some make-up in my pocket for my quick zombie transformation. I'm a realist, what can I say.)  What I'm real happy about is my time.  I finished in 30 minutes exactly, and that is with taking about five minutes to talk and do zombie make-up with my friend Alyson. :)
So, I know I could have finished in at least 25 minutes not running my guts out because I wasn't worn out at the end. I'm feeling awesome about that.

I'm hope they come back to Jacksonville next year.
